Meditating is a Great Stress Buster (Most of the Time)

Today we did something that I thought we would never do in drama! We meditated!!

Hold on! It wasn’t all stress–free and all.

Okay story time...

Once upon a time there was a girl and she absolutely loved drama. She was in year 11 and her next class was drama. She was very excited. She walked into class with her friend and her teacher told everyone to lie on their backs around the drama room. Everyone had their eyes closed. She then took them through a meditation session. The girl was getting very into it. she completely relaxed her body and got rid of all her stressful thoughts that surrounded her brain and completely just thought about the present. Suddenly, a Spotify ad interrupted our serene music and the girl lost a bit of focus. Nothing to worry about she soon refocused herself. Then, her teacher told everyone to think about someone who makes them happy. Someone who came into your life and suddenly changed you. The girl thought about some people who made her happy. She smiled uncontrollably. Then her teacher told her to think about something that made her angry something that hurt her. She told the students to stand up and when she did the girl was so angry and sad while thinking about the people whom she loved and who made her happy and then something terribly bad happening to them or her. She started crying. There were tears rolling down her cheeks and she could not stop them. Then the teacher told everyone to think about something that made the happy that morning. She told everyone to slowly push away the angry thoughts and think about happy things so the girl obeyed. She started to push the thoughts away and finally became calm. The teacher then told everyone to lie back down and ended the meditation session. After the session she had to relect on it and write a logbook entry. She realised that she was willing to show absolute raw emotion because no one was there to watch her. She could absolutely be vulnerable and no one would judge her. This also related to Artaud, she thought, as people are so tied down by all the conventions of their society that they hold back to show their emotions. This was a very important lesson for the girl to understand the meaning of being vulnerable on stage and show absolute raw emotion.

The End.

What a great story am I right? Pretty unusual, I must agree.

(Spoiler alert! I am actually the girl, who could have guessed?)

Oh dinner is calling!

Toodles,

S
