Space, Time, Symbols and Metaphors
Space and Time of our Piece
We have consciously tried to engage with the stage as much as possible. We used almost every part of the stage:
Downstage prompt side: Train scene
Center stage: Psychiatrist scene
Downstage prompt, off prompt: Pulse Club scene
Downstage off prompt: Sophie and Lola's hymns hands
Upstage and downstage: Chair duets
Upstage off prompt: Psychiatrist scene.
full length of the stage: Cityscape, end of the chair duet, assembly line scenes
Our scene can reiterate a lot of times. For example, the pinup models from the 19th century, the experimentation on gay people int he psychiatrist scene seem a bit archaic. However, the train scene and the scene and the toy scene seem relatively modern.
Symbols
Girls wear pink and boys wear blue: costumes
Barbies are for girls
Superheroes are for boys
Tash represented the society in gnereal in the assembly line scene
The Pulse club scene was actually a real conversation between a mum and her son during the gay bar shooting at Orlando.
